I just read this BBC article about Starbucks opening up in Italy.

Personally. I'll think they'll succeed. Why? Having seen what Starbucks do in the US and how they adapt their offering to suit the local market, I have no doubt that the Italian offering will be nothing other than totally focussed on finding the local customer who is prepared to try something new as well as attract a handful of the 2 million of so visitors to Milan each year.
The local coffee shop will still be there but I do fear that the power of the Starbucks brand will be too much to resist and the younger population will enjoy the selfie and tagging opportunities that will align them to their European and worldwide cousins.
